Hand-coloring refers to any method of manually adding colour to a black-and-white photograph, generally either to heighten the realism of the photograph or for artistic purposes. Hand-coloring is also known as hand painting or overpainting.
You can use, watercolors, oils, crayons or pastels, and other paints or dyes on top of your image.
You can apply the above using brushes, fingers, cotton swabs or airbrushes. Hand colored photographs were most popular in the mid- to late-19th century before the invention of color photography and some firms specialized in producing hand colored photographs.
these images would have been done in a dark room in black and white then the color would have been added after by hand.

painting task
we went out and took photos of people(class mate).
The photo was a head to toe image though mine was only to the knee.
we then uploaded them to photoshop and turned them black+white, we then printed the images out and painted over them using real colors ie no blue faces :L
we then scanned the images back onto the computers.
my starting image.

my finished photo of lucy :D
my final image copy
I used sophie and edited the image on photoshop, I changed the balance and the vibrance of the image. I changed the image into black and white then used the burn tool to make the image darker in the corners and on the shoulder. I made a new layer and painted white on the hair then changed the layer to overlay so the white showed up on the image as highlights.
I like the image but didn't have enough time to do everything i wanted, if i did it again id make sure i had enough time to do everything and id spend longer on photoshop making sure the image was almost perfect before uploading it as a finished product. then again if i could do it again id use one of my first chosen images as i prefer them and found them more interesting.
I think it looks alot like the original image though i couldn't get the hair completely right but i think its had to notice that, I also didnt take the photo in the right angel so if i did it again id also make sure i got it right.

Photograph of my choice.
I really like working in black i white so ive looked at mostly photos taken/changed into black and white.
I really like the images where your taking a photo of someone taking a photo of you, i think it looks really effective.
I found this image but as i continued to look i came across an image on a girl smoking whilst holding a camera. I think it looks really effective in black and white as it gives it an edge.
The image really stands out to me, i like how like 'rough' the photo is. It looks like an everyday photo yet at the same time looks so staged and perfected.

I also looked at this image as i like the effect of the coke can still being in color and the rest black and white.
I think im going to try and re-create the girl smoking with the camera as it stands out to me the most out of the three photos i have shown above.

what is 3D photography?
When we look at something with our two eyes, we see in three dimensions because our brain interprets depth by comparing the two images from the left and right eyes. To simulate this photographically we need two photos of the same scene, taken from slightly different positions. This can be done using two cameras mounted together, or a multi-lens camera designed for stereo photography, but can also be done with just one camera - even the most basic type. Its simply a matter of taking one photo, moving the camera to one side, then taking another photo. Same scene, slightly different viewpoint.

we went out to take some images
we took a picture of the same image but one with out left eye and one with our right.
the final image when put together in the process below will look more 3D then using the same image twice.
